Don't all brokers get the same quotes from the same carriers?
In general, yes. However, once we receive the quote from the carriers we complete our plan design analysis. The design of the plan deductible, coinsurance, copays, and other features can have a substantial impact on the cost of the plan. PeopleManage Pro is different in our approach to developing a proposal. Many brokers simply compile the plan options from the 3-4 major carriers and present a spreadsheet to their client. At PeopleManage Pro, we actually present analysis of how your employees use their plan along with the best possible options. This insures the money being spent on the health plan is providing a benefit to the greatest number of employees. So, although all brokers do receive the same quotes from the same carriers, what they do with those quotes after they are received can be different.

How do I make an educated decision about the health care plan for my company?

How can I get an accurate quote without filling out applications?
Depending on your specific situation, you may be able to receive an accurate quote from a carrier without filling out individual applications. In fact, several major carriers, including UnitedHeathcare and Humana will now provide quotations to small groups (under 100 employees) based on the results of information available (Texas Only) under the House Bill 2015 regulations. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas will also provide an accurate quote as long as the business owner or director fills out a questionnaire pertaining to his or her knowledge of the group as a whole. Does anyone in your group have cancer? Has anyone in your group been hospitalized in the past three years? By answering the questionnaire to the best of your ability, BCBS Texas will provide an accurate quote for your group.
 
Can I discriminate between employees I offer insurance to?
In general, you cannot discriminate between employees. However, several options exist. Depending on your group size, you may be able to start a management carve out plan. In this scenario, employees defined as management receive access to the company's health plan while employees not defined as management are excluded from eligibility. Plans may also be designed to allow particular classes of employees access to different benefits. For example, management and admin may have access to the lowest deductible plan, while sales and factory workers have access only to a higher deductible plan. You may also have a plan that provides workers willing to take their health risk assessment or wellness check-up access to the best possible plan, while workers who refuse to take their health risk assessment are automatically placed in the least beneficial plan.
